Tales from a Tent – a new adventure!

By way of small update, I wanted to announce the launch of my second website, Tales from a Tent! For any travel or camping fans, this will represent a more focussed exploration of the topic, whereas Tom’s Tales of Woe are considerably more general.

It’s taken a fair degree of effort to prepare it, though it’s still afflicted by a few growing pains, so any support would be greatly appreciated!

For many reasons, camping is a great way to explore the brilliant outdoors, whether in a tent or campervan. Now, with campsites imminently re-opening, it’s time to be inspired by the possibilities!

Camping in the peak district

Fundamentally, camping is a fun way to challenge yourself, by adopting a more minimalist lifestyle. Not only is the experience thoroughly enjoyable, but it can equally feel deeply rewarding as a result.

Typically situating you in the countryside, camping is also great for positioning you to enjoy other activities whilst connecting with nature. This can vary from casual strolls to rock climbing, intrepid hikes to kayaking, depending on where you stay. These become a lot more accessible when using a campsite as your base. The practise of camping is also growing in popularity – as the number of prospective campers rises, so too do the wonderful opportunities to keep exploring!

If you’re unconvinced, rest assured I will continue to post regularly over here, with my combination of travel blogs, short stories, and social commentaries. I understand the appeal of camping is not universal, but several of my most successful posts have been inspired by camping adventures I’ve undertaken within the UK.

But, if you’re hoping for either advice or destination inspiration, Tales from a Tent is the place to be!

Thanks for reading! Hopefully you’re encouraged to explore more. What are your dream travel plans this summer? Unsurprisingly, I’m aiming to get into the countryside for some camping!

Whilst you’re here, why not check out the latest posts?

What is the 'liberal woke agenda'

What is the ‘Woke Liberal Agenda’?

I’m honestly perplexed. So many phrases have been introduced in recent years that I simply cannot keep pace. ‘Cancel Culture’. ‘Woke’. ‘Liberal snowflakes’. Who, exactly, do they describe? I partly assume they’ve been adopted in unhappy response to some of the progressive changes we’ve experienced. I’m just not clear on who the actors in this… Continue Reading →

The legacy of the Olympic Games

The legacy of the Olympic Games

The Olympic Games have concluded, but their legacy lives on. Theoretically, at least. Barely out of their shadow, we can already anticipate the imminent Paralympics, alongside a mere six-month wait for Beijing and three-year gap until Paris. It’s always an exciting time to be a sports fan. For an all-too-brief fortnight, however, the Olympic Games… Continue Reading →

Climate change: is it too late?

Climate Change: is it too late?

Does it ever feel like we’ve come too far? Climate change is the single greatest issue in our species’ history, yet we’ve consistently exhibited a failing in desire to tackle it. Not the capacity, but the willingness. Which is the greatest tragedy. The ability is within our grasp. We just have to seize it. Climate… Continue Reading →

  1. Congratulations on the second website! Can’t wait to read more about camping and trying to find some reasons to convince my sisters that it can be fun even in the wild and not just glamping!
